Overseas Council

Vice President of Advancement

Indianapolis, Indiana

Overseas Council (OC) is seeking a Vice President of Advancement who will provide dynamic leadership in positioning and guiding the organization to effectively continue its impressive history of providing Christian leadership opportunities around the world. What began in 1974 as support for one seminary in Seoul, South Korea, has grown and now partners with more than 130 seminaries worldwide, leveraging people, expertise and resources to advance quality Christian leadership training.

The Vice President of Advancement (VPA) will be a member of the President’s Executive Team. He/she is responsible for developing and executing an Advancement Plan to mobilize resources that allow OC to achieve its ministry objectives and so fulfill its mission.  This requires a strong partnership with the President and with the COO, the VP of International Partnerships (IP) and other members of the Executive Team.  In addition, the VPA must develop a solid understanding of OC’s top projects globally, and the ability to translate OC’s ministry into compelling messages to current and potential financial investors.

The successful candidate will forge new relationships to build OC’s nonprofit visibility, impact, and financial resources.  The VPA will have the primary responsibility for establishing OC’s Advancement strategy, long-term plan, and goals; for developing appropriate tracking metrics; and for implementing the infrastructure needed to support a multi-million dollar overall ministry budget.  In execution, this will include establishing in-depth relationships that lead to major gifts, foundation grants, church giving, special events, and individual support.

The new VPA will possess the following:

  • A proven track record of accomplishment in leading and growing a comprehensive advancement strategy raising multi-million dollars annually through best practices in all functions of an advancement team.
  • Ability to add value as a member of the President’s Executive Team working collaboratively and strategically on a wide range of issues.
  • A proven leader with experience, vision, energy and finesse required to articulate the mission of Overseas Council to a broad range of constituencies and partners.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including some global travel.
