The Children's Pastor is responsible for developing, coordinating, and overseeing the spiritual growth and development of children from birth to elementary school. This role involves creating a dynamic, engaging, and safe environment where children can learn about Jesus, grow in their faith, and build lasting relationships. The Children's Pastor will lead a team of volunteers, resource and partner with parents, and develop healthy community among families. Collaboration with the Next Gen team will be expected to ensure a cohesive approach to ministry.
- Ministry Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a relevant, effective, and fun children’s ministry program including Sunday and midweek services, and special events.
- Communicate the Gospel through creative means to children at various ages.
- Teach biblical principles to children in a way that is relatable and engaging.
- Identify and develop the God-given gifts of children.
- Encourage kids to worship God through music, giving, prayer, and reading the Bible.
- Promote missions and the importance of spreading the Gospel all over the world.
- Create a strategy for a special needs ministry.
- Provide resources to help equip parents to disciple their children at home.
- Fulfill pastoral duties including mentoring, baptism, hospital visitation, and pastoral care to families.
- Leadership:
- Provide leadership, vision, and encouragement to volunteers.
- Recruit, develop, and train quality leaders and ensure they are well-equipped to execute all aspects of ministry.
- Develop integrated training processes for preschool and elementary students Dream Team members.
- Build strong, effective teams to maximize ministry impact and for future growth.
- Communicate consistently with volunteers.
- Provide training and resources for special needs ministry leaders.
- Safety:
- Develop and oversee implementation of policies and procedures.
- Create and maintain security standards to create a safe environment.
- Administration:
- Manage the children’s ministry budget, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources.
- Maintain accurate records, including attendance and volunteer schedules.
- Ensure excellence in all media and communication with the help of staff support.
- Collaborate with Next Gen team and communicate regularly with parents about ministry updates and opportunities.
- Events:
The Children’s Pastor will oversee special event planning including:
- Seasonal and Holiday Family events
- Outreach events
- Vacation Bible School
- Kids Summer Camp
Qualifications:
- A vibrant personal faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to biblical truth, with a calling to pastoral ministry and serving kids.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills and pursuit of excellence through attention to detail.
- Creativity and passion for developing engaging kids’ ministry curriculum.
- Ability to work collaboratively with church leadership, staff, and volunteers to achieve shared goals.
- A heart for discipleship, leadership development, and empowering others for ministry.
- A minister’s license (preferred).
- Licensed or credentialled pastor (Assemblies of God preferred).
- Bachelor's degree in theology, ministry, or a related field.
- Experience in children’s ministry, education or related field.
- Computer competency in Google Suites.
